White to have knee drained for second consecutive season

Wide Receiver Roddy White has elected to have his knee drained instead of surgery for the second year in a row.  Last season he missed only two camp days and expects the same this year.

“They gave me the option two years ago to have surgery. They said they would have to slice off the top of my cartilage, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to do that.’ I don’t want them to keep shaving my cartilage off until there’s no more cartilage. Then you start to get arthritis.”

The four time pro bowler fully expects to play the entire season beginning with the first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.

“I feel light, and I feel like that’s going to help me get through the season,” White said. “I want to be healthy for 16 games.”

“I want to finish out my career here,” White said. “After that … well, I want to win a Super Bowl. But if it doesn’t happen, I’ll be happy. And if it does happen, I’ll be happy.

Falcons looking for more in 2015

The Atlanta Falcons are hoping that the additions to their squad will be able to put them back in the hunt in the AFC and new Head Coach Dan Quinn looks like the man who will be able to change things up and make an impact.  The key to success lays in speed and Quinn has changed the entire atmosphere during OTA’s.  Now instead of hearing whistles blaring, you’ll hear anything from Heavy Metal to Lil Wayne.

“We are fast-paced in terms of the attitude and style,” Quinn said. “When you hear the music really what we are looking for is not a clean environment in which to practice because really that’s not how you play.”

Coach Quinn is attempting to implement a “fast and physical” team for 2015.

“Number one, we wanted to really learn how to practice fast against each other, but by doing it safely,” Quinn said. “When we become a really good practicing team that’s when it will carry over into the game. The No. 1 (goal) is just the tempo and attitude that we’re trying to practice with.”

Falcons Mini Camp will be open to the public this season from June 16th-18th at Flowery Branch.  Gates open before noon on the 16th and 17th and before 10 on the 18th.
