Falcons host Cardinals this Sunday

Birds try to avoid last seasons fate

We all remember this point in the season last year.  Your Falcons were sitting pretty at 6-4 and looking towards the playoffs.   Then the rest of the season happened and all of a sudden you are 8-8 and on the outside looking in.  Not this year…by golly I hope not!

The Atlanta Falcons look to regroup against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend after a 15-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago. falcons-6 During their bye week, the team fell in the rankings to 8th and with five of their six remaining in the NFC and four of the six at home, the team will have to work hard for that playoff spot.

“We know the exciting challenge that’s in front of us after the bye,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “We have five of the six games in the NFC. So, we’ll be completely pumped for that.”

The Falcons will need all hands on deck for the remainder of the season and the dome can be a bright spot that opponents can’t get over.

“Let’s hope that we can make it as loud as we possibly can … in the Dome,” Quinn said. “Our fans will be ready to rock and our team will be as well.”

Falcons pull off miraculous win

The NFC South is the weakest division in the NFL and the Atlanta Falcons were still somehow in first place with a 4-7 record.  Then the New Orleans Saints pulled off a win to up their record to 5-7.  The Falcons had to win…and win they did 18-29.

The Falcons were led by Matt Ryan (30-41 for 361 yards a 2 TD’s), DeShawn Jackson (18 carries for 101 yards) and most brilliantly by receiver Julio Jones who hauled in 10 catches for 189 yards and a touchdown.

“When we play consistent football, we can put that type of performance out there,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said after the game.

The Falcons must now face the powerhouse Green Bay Packers.  Great tickets are still available and affordable seats are waiting for you!

Falcons hope to rebound against Panthers

Gonzalez fights off rumors of trade demand

After losing to the Arizona Cardinals last weekend, the chorus of pundits calling for All Pro TE Tony Gonzalez to be traded to a winning teal allowing him a chance at a Super Bowl ring.  Funny enough, non of these calls are being made by Gonzalez himself.

With the Falcons sitting at 2-5, Gonzalez says it is “understandable” that folks want to see a Super Bowl ring on his finger, but points out not at the expense of his current team.

“But, like I said, I love my guys on this team too much to go ask for a trade. It would be something that would come from them where they said, ‘Hey, it makes sense because we could get something good for you and send you to a team that’s a contender.’ So I understand the thought process behind that.”

The Falcons next face the Carolina Panthers this weekend and hope to add another win to Gonzalez’s victory column.  Great tickets are still available.
