Falcons kick off Preseason after Green Bay/Lambeau Field mishap

The Green Bay Packers dropped the proverbial ‘Hall of Fame’ ball after the league cancelled the Hall of Fame Game due to “poor field conditions.”

“Due to safety concerns with the condition of the playing surface in Canton, tonight’s game between the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers has been cancelled. We are very disappointed for our fans, but player safety is our primary concern, and as a result, we could not play an NFL game on this field tonight.”

So now your Atlanta Falcons against the Washington Redskins becomes the game to kick off the preseasonFalcons 2

and Quarterback Matt Ryan for one, is looking to get off to a fast start this year.

“Well, I think you always want to start fast,” Ryan said. “I mean, anytime you play a game, you want to compete and you want to win, so that’s important. But offensively, I think you want to get off to a fast start, set the tempo, set the tone for what you want to be as an offense, and hopefully execute really well.”

Don’t expect first round pick Keanu Neal to take the field against the Redskins as was reported to be nursing a trunk, (torso) injury.

“I’m not going to say if he’ll play yet,” Head Coach Dan Quinn said. “He just saw the doc today. He had a trunk injury, and we’ll determine [his status] later in the week. Honestly, I don’t have enough information to tell you if he will or won’t. I think it could go 50/50 either way. I’ll let you know during the week.”

Falcons ready to take on Eagles

The Atlanta Falcons have a ton of confidence coming into their opening game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.  The revised team, with new head coach Dan  Quinn and offensive coordinator  Kyle Shanahan have the team running at a high level and the off season moves have helped to make the offense a bit more potent.

But not all areas can be addressed with one off season.  While the offense is stronger, the defense will be the linchpin that will get them to the playoffs and even with first round pick Vic Beasley  and a handful of veteran free agents, they will be hard pressed to do too much better than last seasons worst defense in the NFL.

There is only one way to figure all of this out and that is to let them play the game and you still have a chance to be there.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today and help cheer on your Atlanta Falcons!

Falcons edge Panthers

The Atlanta Falcons are in a very strange place.  With a record of 4-6, they find themselves in first place in the NFC South Division.  That doesn’t say much about the division, but Matt Ryan is happy to be there after beating the Carolina Panthers 19-17 Sunday.

“It’s been a different year, for sure,” Ryan said. “You play to be relevant in November and December. As quirky as this season’s been, we’re relevant.”

Relevant or not, the Falcons will have to up their game if they expect to get out of the first round of the playoffs and will have to deal with the loss of Special Teams Captain/Running Back Antone Smith, who was lost for the season after suffering a broken leg against the Panthers.

The Falcons play host to the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available.  Get yours now!
