Falcons look to rebound against

The Atlanta Falcons came up three points short of winning against the New York Jets last weekend will have a week to shore up deficiencies on both sides of the ball as they work through the teams bye week before hosting the New Orleans Saints.  Whether that will be enough time for Julio Jones to make a return is yet to be seen.  Jones was injured in Monday Night’s game against the Jets but not sure when. He limped off the field after the game..

“The first reports were not encouraging, but we will wait to see what the second (opinion) comes as,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said during Tuesday’s news conference

Great tickets are still available for the game against the Saints.

Red Zone woes continue to plague Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons went into the game against the New England Patriots knowing that they needed to score as many points as possible against Tom Brady and his bunch of unknown warriors.  Head coach Mike Smith knew this as well, so when it came to a forth and two call, Smith had no qualms letting his team try and pick up the first.  Had Matt Ryan not thrown an errant pass, the Falcons would have taken the lead and who knows what the outcome would be after that.  Going 3-13 on third down over a span of four games certainly doesn’t help.

“There were a number of contributing factors to our inefficiency, not just one area, not just one group,” Mike Smith said Monday. “We had some protection issues. We had some routes that were not run right. We had some drops. We had some missed throws. I can assure you that we’re addressing it as a coaching staff, and we’re addressing it with our team.”

The Falcons will have the opportunity to right the ship as they take on the New York Jets , October 7th. Great tickets and seats are still available!

Falcons Visit Saints in season opener

The  Atlanta Falcons got their roster down to the mandatory 53 but in doing so, bucked tradition.

“I’ll say this, we let a lot of good football players, a lot of good men, go over the weekend,” Head Coach Mike Smith said Monday. “Tough decisions.”

One decision that bucks their normal trend was in keeping six running backs on this years squad.

“They have competed, and we said it was going to be open competition in our evaluation. They won the competition and that is why they are here on our squad. They will have an opportunity to help us win football games this year.”

The Falcons take on the New Orleans Saints Sunday at 1.  Tickets are still available!
